Net Neutrality Turns Down Telecom, Cable and Wireless

Net Neutrality Turns Down Telecom, Cable and Wireless

The U.S. Appeals Court upheld Net Neutrality today.  Net Neutrality allows government regulation of telecom, cable and wireless services. Relating to internet service providers (ISPs), the FCC will oversee how they handle web traffic on their networks. This includes allowing the FCC to review consumer complaints against ISPs. Next, the telecom industry will take their fight to the Supreme Court. Consumers, the FCC and internet businesses seemed pleased with the outcome. Click here to read the complete ruling. Gentleman’s Note #26

Gentleman's Note #26 characteristics I want my son and son-in-law to see and learn by watching me BE HER BEST VALET Today was a scorching hot day in Texas. I knew where her car was parked because we had driven to work at the same location. I had a key, so I told my son, "let's go get your Mom's car, cool it off and take it to her." He was pretty impartial to the idea as he expressed how much more important it was to discuss what happened after she received her car - taking him to the playground. I had inquired to find out when she would be leaving the building. My son and I went to her car, cooled it down and drove to the curb to deliver her car. When your lady is arriving at or departing from a location, be her best valet. Provide the most comfort and safety possible. If she is driving separately from you, always make certain her vehicle is equipped...

Remembering Sacrifices for Justice and Freedom

Remembering Sacrifices for Justice and Freedom

Today we remember all of the men and women who gave the lives in the service of our country as the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that our nation continues to enjoy.  As I skimmed posts and thoughts others were sharing, one in particular caught my attention. It included a short excerpt from President Truman's speech on April 16, 1945 to a joint session of Congress during World War II. "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices. Because of these sacrifices, the dawn of justice and freedom throughout the world slowly casts its gleam across the horizon." Memorial Day should remind us that every pursuit for a cause is not accomplished without sacrifice. Right here. Right now. We have this day to continue striving to make a difference for others. It is one of the best ways to attempt repaying the immense debt we owe....

Bludotone Amp Works

Bludotone Amp Works

Have you heard of Bludotone Amps? Me neither, until I was checking out Jon Herington's (Steely Dan) guitar rig. He use a Bludotone Bludo-Drive. The amps are about as boutique as you can get since each amp is built specifically for the player. From their website: "When you choose a Bludotone you can rest assured that you are not getting any old amp, you are getting an amp that was build JUST FOR YOU! We like to speak to each player, the old fashioned way-over the telephone, before building the amplifier. We ask about your style, Guitars, Choice of speakers (when applicable) and what the "tone you've been hearing in your head" is. Each amplifier is built one-by-one, by hand, by one person start to finish, and we like to have a hands-on personal connection with the player that is getting the amp, sure this way takes longer, and we can produce fewer amps because of it, but after you get your amp...

Insight Dialogues with Judith Rodin and Robin Wright

Insight Dialogues with Judith Rodin and Robin Wright

An inspiring conversation this evening between Judith Rodin and Robin Wright which was the first Insight Dialogues from the Rockefeller Foundation. A few takeaways: Engage people to act and share - to be a part, participation - skills and talents; not just giving money. Silence is apathy; let your compassion win - possess everyday drive and get up to fix the broken and unresolved for the betterment of our world. Engage with people/organizations who are on the ground making change. Movements make the change. Repeat your message with conviction that won't let go. Love the cause. The indomitable optimism in the face of extraordinary adversity is powerful to witness. Living thankful, hopeful and joyful despite situations and conditions. No matter if you are a victim or an activist, advocate, partner, etc..., you must have an attitude and outlook that won't give up or quit.
