Working with Charlton Hiott at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas.
I worked at Stonebriar Community Church full-time from 2012 to 2017 in the resource and support areas as Webmaster and Director of Web Services. We established and began growing a social media strategy and presence for the organization. Also, we formed and implemented a plan to redesign and develop organization websites.
Resource and support staff departments were excellent under leadership of the Senior Director and Business Administrator. Family and personal experiences were great during this time.
During 2012 to 2017 there was little down side to the job or work environment in the resource and support staff areas. It was a very unified team – not without challenges, but collaborating together through it all.
Throughout this time our family also became very involved serving with children, worship and student ministries. Also, our special needs son found a place to establish meaningful connections – it was such a relief to find this level of support and care as special needs parents.
Pastor Chuck Swindoll and Dr. Steve Farrar are great teachers and speakers, so this is a great place to hear them in person.
Beginning 2018 the Senior Director of Resource Ministries position was eliminated, resource ministries area dissolved and departments along with the Business Administrator moved under two senior associate pastors. Web Services and Communications departments were placed under the Senior Associate Pastor – Shepherding Ministries, Charlton Hiott. The restructuring led to conflicts which we worked through mostly. Most unfortuate there was fallout for our family as result.
The Web services department was eliminated and my job terminated surprisingly on July 25. 2019. A few weeks later, the position which I worked at previously, webmaster, was reopened for employment and the Director of Communications, Sandi Garrett, was terminated. A consultant, Todd Turner, who formerly worked for Insight for Living (an organization with ties to Stonebriar Community Church) was hired by the Senior Associate Pastor – Shepherding Ministries and made the recommendations for the eliminations and terminations.
The webmaster job was given to a former employee of Insight for Living – also a friend of the Senior Associate Pastor – Shepherding Ministries and the consultant (his supervisor at Insight for Living)
Given the success we achieved together and restoration my family had found, I would have loved to consider an option for continuing my employment at the reopened position and my family’s relationship with SCC. We were crushed by these experiences with Charlton Hiott to say the least and are working to recover and restore.
An executive pastor is presently badly needed. Also, consistency and accountability for staff management and care.
