Our Whirlpool Gold Series Refridgerator WRF736SDAM13 is not defrosting. All other functions of the refridgerator are working correctly until the freezer section coils ice up.

After running correctly for about 10-12 hours, we have to manually (turn off cooling) defrost the freezer coils.

The evaporator fan assembly including the thermistor (temperature sensor), defrost thermostat , defrost thermal fuse, and other components attached to the wiring harness were recently replaced with new part. The evaporator fan had stopeed blowing.

The coils and back, underneath of the refridgerator are clean.

I think it may be one of the following:

  • DEFROST TIMER
  • DEFROST HEATER
  • DEFROST CONTROL BOARD

I ran diagnostics and get an E1 response for tests 56 and 66.

Searching for what this error code means……

Searching for where the DEFROST HEATER is located on this refridgerator.

TBD………………………………………………………………..
